Protect America's Features

The five packages featured with Protect America are all near identical except for the number of door and window sensors and add-ons that the customer chooses to include in their deal. There are currently five devices and features shared by all the packages, and fourteen others that can be incorporated into your home security system at an additional cost.

Protect America's packages come with a given set of devices, features, and an interchangeable number of window and door sensors. The numbers of these sensors for all packages are three (3) for Copper, six (6) for Bronze, nine (9) for Silver, eleven (11) for Gold, and fourteen (14) for the Platinum package.

24/7 Monitoring

When an alarm goes off in your home, a signal is sent to a monitoring station where an agent immediately calls you and notifies the authorities of a potential situation.

The type of connection used when you subscribe to such a service will determine the quality of that service. The connections are landline, cellular, and broadband.

When you consider landline connections, note that they can be wireless as a system in your house, but they would communicate with the monitoring center ultimately via landline.

A fully wireless cellular uplink form of communication ensures that a trespasser won't have any lines to cut and leave you vulnerable. Some homeowners use landline security systems with a cellular connection as a backup measure against outside meddling or hacking. Cellular is also faster than landline as long as your area has strong coverage from nearby cell towers.

A broadband connection utilizes communication with one of Protect America's monitoring centers much like a cellular set-up does, but it is not as reliable due to the home router being connected to an internet cable that extends underground which a burglar could reach if they knew what they were doing. Broadband is definitely the second best choice as far as home security monitoring go, it is cheaper than cellular, and four times as fast as a landline.

Mobile Access & Home Automation

Exclusive to broadband and cellular connections, mobile access and home automation are a staple of aggressive home security. Apart from the comfort perks that home automation provides, it's the level of control it gives a homeowner that impresses most of all. Using Protect America's free app SMART Connect, you gain remote access to all the devices in the system, monitor their status, control the Z-Wave thermostat, and other compatible electrically powered appliances such as lighting.

Two-Way Talk

Exclusive to landline connections, the two-way talk feature is a must when it comes to emergency situations. The two-way talk gives you the ability to speak directly to a monitoring agent through the control panel's microphone. In the event that your phone runs out of battery and you're racing behind valuable seconds, the next course of action would be to use this feature, call for help, and rescue will be headed your way.

Yard Sign

Before getting inside a camera or sensor light's focal perimeter, running into a yard sign to a burglar is an instant deterrent not just for your home, but for surrounding homes as well. Not everyone that has a yard sign necessarily has a security system installed, and burglars know this, but having one will always undoubtedly keep them guessing and take away from their confidence in the act.

Simon XT Control Panel

The Simon XT control panel can accommodate home automation (lights & locks), is easy to set up in a DIY fashion, very affordable for a device of its caliber, and completely wireless.

Video Security Camera

In the event of a break-in, an alarm goes off that alerts the monitoring center and triggers the camera to start recording. What it captures will immediately be sent to your phone or tablet, archived in Protect America's cloud storage, and saved for later use - perhaps as evidence.

Since they are wireless, these video cameras are easy to set up and activate within minutes. Their one drawback, however, is their inability to be used as outdoor cameras, so if worse comes to worst, you can situate the camera under a shading agent while it's pointed to the outside.

Garage Door Sensor

It is not enough to arm your front door and a few windows. All entry points to your home need to be secured or else you'll be running the risk of investing in a security system that a burglar can dodge if they simply go in through the garage entrance

When armed, and the sensor reaches a certain height or angle from its original orientation, it sends a signal to the control panel to sound the alarm which simultaneously notifies the monitoring station of a break-in.

Z-Wave Door Lock

Three nifty features come with the Z-Wave door lock: A) a wireless keypad, B) remote access and control, and C) a deadbolt lock.

A) You can even program this lock with your own custom access codes and share them with your loved ones.

B) Devices from Z-Wave can all be incorporated into one system, and that system can be accessed and controlled remotely with your phone, tablet, or computer. No form of home automation is complete without remote controlled locks.

C) Burglars know whether they should break into a house through the front door or otherwise just by looking at the locks. Upon seeing Z-Wave's deadbolt lock waiting for them, they won't even bother.
