Located in the New England region of the United States, New Hampshire is the 5th smallest state and the first to claim its independence from Great Britain and join the union on June 21, 1788; six months before the Declaration of Independence.
New Hampshire, or the Granite State, referring to its abundant resources of granite, is also a popular destination for shoppers since it has neither a general sales tax, state tax, nor local income tax. It is also known for its many quality educational institutions, with the ivy league university Dartmouth being one of the best in the Nation.
New Hampshire prides itself on being a state concerned with personal liberties and freedoms, with its motto “Live Free Or Die” which is one of the most well-known of the 50 states.
